Why Lifewood No Longer Offers Bamboo Flooring

At Lifewood, our mission has always been to create beautiful, high-quality flooring with integrity and care. For many years, our founder, Mark Hutchison, dedicated his career to refining the manufacturing of bamboo flooring through our former brand, Bamboozle.

However, Mark’s personal journey changed the direction of our business. After learning about human rights abuses in China — including the persecution of spiritual believers and forced organ harvesting — he made the decision that Lifewood would not source products from, or manufacture in, China.

Unfortunately, the highest quality bamboo manufacturing is based in China, and despite extensive searching, Mark was unable to find suppliers outside China that met our strict standards for durability, consistency, and beauty. Without the ability to source bamboo at the quality our customers expect, we made the difficult decision to stop supplying bamboo flooring entirely.

Instead, we chose to focus on what we can do best — sourcing the world’s finest hardwoods and applying the same expertise, technology, and craftsmanship that once made our bamboo floors outstanding. Today, Lifewood offers premium hardwood flooring that embodies our values of quality, beauty, and ethical sourcing.
