Lifewood Timber Floors Perth

How we make our boards

The Lifewood process utilises a patented, cross-layered design that will not bend, stretch, shrink, cup, warp or twist. The top surface is carefully hand-selected for its visual appeal. The middle layer and bottom layers are usually extracted from the same log. Compressed under immense pressure using eco-friendly glues, it is this process that provides the unique stabilisation and strength properties. The marginally less attractive parts of the timber are concealed in the structure below the top layer. The result is a dramatic reduction in waste because timber that would otherwise be unsuitable is utilised to deliver proven strength.

Irrespective of the species, Lifewood timber is kiln dried, precision-cut, planned, prefinished with seven layers of moisture-resistant and non-yellowing polyurethane and cut millimetre perfect. Each plank is tongue and grooved. The prefinishing makes Lifewood timber flooring ideal for kitchens, living rooms, hallways and bedrooms. The Lifewood prefinished hardwood manufacturing innovations make for a strong, durable and beautiful feature throughout the home.

Sustainable and Easy to Install

Using local timbers more responsibly and sustainably, the floorboard design creates amazing stability. The manufacturing process also makes it possible for a longer, wider floorboard with less colour variation. A Lifewood prefinished, polished floor can be securely installed by gluing directly to the concrete floor in days, not weeks. Because it is prefinished, household disruption is minimal. Prefinishing also means there is no requirement to sand and polish in your home.

A prefinished, polished, Lifewood timber floor can still be sanded later just like a solid wood, to provide long-term value.

Choose from:

French Oak: Although French Oak is slow growing, it has minimal lateral expansion. Its tight grain and characteristic knots provide unique decorative features. In its natural state, French Oak ranges from cream to pale brown. Some have slight tones of pink. French Oak is extremely durable, ages well and responds well to staining due to the high level of tannin in the timber.

Spotted Gum: Perfectly suited for architectural purposes and especially flooring, Spotted Gum is extremely hardwearing and a long lasting timber. It offers a beautiful and varied colour range ranging from deep chocolate browns, stunning blondes to rich reds. It has intricate grain patterns that ensure it is always in demand. Spotted Gum is durable, strong and fire resistant.

Eastern States Blackbutt: The name came from the tree’s appearance after bushfires where the buttress (butt) was significantly darkened. Coastal Blackbutt is different to the tableland species sometimes known as New England Blackbutt. It comes mainly from NSW and Queensland. Lifewood sources are Australian Forestry Standard (AFS) and PEFC accredited. Blackbutt makes a good plantation timber due to its versatility and speed of growth. Colours range from golden yellow to pale brown. Sometimes, it may have a slight pinkish colour. It has an even texture and is generally straight grained. Blackbutt can be stained, painted or polished. A strong, durable hardwood, Blackbutt is ideal for flooring applications. It offers durability, versatility and adaptability. The warmth, strength and natural beauty of Blackbutt timber flooring have proven it to be a popular choice for a variety of interior settings.

Rose Jarrah: Rose Jarrah is one of the most desired floor coverings due to the warmth, beauty, durability and strength it brings to every home. An attractive prefinished hardwood flooring option, it ranks 8.5 on the Janka hardness scale. It features a gorgeous pinkish-red colour, the colour is lighter than the traditional darker colours of previously available older growth logs. It is mostly sourced from mine site clearings and the company’s own tree salvage operations (storm-blown trees and land clearings etc). Rose Jarrah is insect and rot resistant and is easy to clean and maintain. It is also a healthy choice for those who suffer from allergens. Rose Jarrah is a timeless classic that complements any interior space with an attractive grain pattern.
